Mueller's Paramnesie series stands out with its round presentation, reminiscent of early Japanese photography and symbolizing a keyhole to our memories, even if they are "false" memories. The series features multilayered photography, combining multiple exposures of monochrome landscape pictures with photographed surfaces like concrete or marble. This unique approach creates captivating artworks that blur the line between reality and imagination.
The realization of the Paramnesie series involves printing the artworks on fine art paper and framing them in a classical manner. Alternatively, they can be mounted on Dibond with or without plexiglass. The series is available in three editions, each with different sizes and limited quantities. Edition 1 measures 80 x 80cm and is limited to 5 pieces, Edition 2 is 50 x 50cm and limited to 10 pieces, while Edition 3 is 20 x 20cm and unlimited.
Paramnesie has garnered attention and accolades in the art world. Florian W. Mueller's thought-provoking series was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Photography and Photo Manipulation category in 2018. This prestigious award recognizes designs that demonstrate outstanding creativity and resourcefulness, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology. Mueller's Paramnesie series exemplifies these qualities, contributing to the improvement of our quality of life through its artistic and conceptual brilliance.
The Paramnesie series has been an ongoing project since April 2016, originating in Germany. It has been exhibited in Cologne and is set to be showcased in Colorado, USA in June 2018. Mueller's dedication to this project is evident in his exploration of the complexities of memory and the visual representation of false memories. Through his work, he invites viewers to reflect on their own recollections and the subjective nature of memory itself.
Florian W. Mueller's Paramnesie series is a testament to the power of art in evoking emotions and challenging our perceptions. By combining photography, psychology, and design, Mueller creates a visual experience that leaves a lasting impression. As viewers engage with the series, they are prompted to question the reliability of their memories and the influence of perception on their understanding of the world.
